Biography

Iration

A roots reggae band composed by the Zamorano brothers begins in the heart of the Caribbean which marks the spiritual birth of their group.  They arrived on the island of Montserrat in the West Indies on October of 1973 and in 1981 they migrated to the United States of America.  In April of 1992 they landed in Kingston, Jamaica to mix their first single titled “The Day After” published by Mission 101 Records.  After playing some college gigs, local pubs in the Tri-State area and a leg of the Reggae Sunsplash (1991) in Greensboro, North Carolina Iration decided to visit their native land.  Naturally they began to compose in Spanish and that one journey eventually became a common one.  Iration made several independent trips over the next few years, quickly managing to create a home of their own within the national musical scene.
Iration became the opening act for groups like Los Pericos, The Wailers, Lauryn Hill, Fabulosos Cadillacs, Auténticos Decadentes and Matisyahu. They were chosen to be the backing band for the performances of Kymani Marley and Andrew Tosh on their first visit to Chile.  In September of 2003 Iration was invited by Isabel Allende to participate in the Tribute to Salvador Allende “30 Años” sharing the scene with legendaries like Silvio Rodriguez, Shalil Shankar, Vicente Feliú, Gerardo Alfonso, Los Prisioneros, Daniela Mercury, Julieta Venegas, Salvador Ojeda, León Gieco, Gilberto Gil, Daniel Viglietti, Congreso, Quilapayún, César Isella & Pedro Aznar.  This was one of their best performances up to date and attendance at this tribute was around 80,000 thousand people.  Iration established themselves as the best reggae group in the country and perhaps in the region becoming the pioneers of this genre, not a surprise considering their cultural upbringing and foundation.  Being independent made it so much easier for them to work, mainly because of their freedom to express their strong lyrical content and provide for the first time this musical experience of this genre to audiences.  Their message is clear and being an underground sensation definitely helped them to stay in the cultural eyes of their people even though their visits were brief ones.  By late 2003 Warner Music releases the album “Fusion de Estilos 2“ by the Hip-Hop group “Zaturno & Tapia Rabia” in which Iration composes and performs the first single “Cuando te veo pasar”, the video clip aired on MTV Latino in late September.  Iration by now has enough exposure and basic financing to begin preparations to remix their first album and create their first video clip “Chile”.  Iration’s album “En Exilio” has musicians from the U.S.A., Cuba and Chile, creating a nice blend of different styles within their music.  It clearly has a Caribbean flavor with a South American touch and their music represents their conviction to spiritually fight for a better tomorrow, leaving clear that the most important value is to be part of the solution.
In early 2007 Iration continued opening up for mega artists such as Matisyahu and they launched the release of their “En Exilio / In Exile” album at the 1st Annual Budweiser Summer Fest in Washington DC in September of 2008.  The group has also been actively a backing band for the likes of Eek-A-Mouse, Johnny Dread, Pablo Molina & Junior Kelly. Iration has continued performing and has released singles in 2011 with Eek-A-Mouse and Sista Rebel. Dread & Alive by Island Stage & Zoolook: Kindah, Volume 2 - South America (Reggae), was released on February 6th, 2012 celebrating the birth of Bob Marley features the track "Chile" by Iration and many more irie tracks from Aguamala, Anen, Alika, De Bruces A Mí, Imykal, Alerta Kamarada and Tribal Zion. Iration's most recent single “Love Light” produced by Kemar “Flava” McGregor out on the Kingston Songs label of Jamaica released on August 06, 2012 forms an integral part of the "Reggae Platinum Series 1" joining top international recording artistes; Marcia Griffiths, Beres Hammond, Luciano, Buju Banton, Sinead O'Connor, Gentleman, Sanchez, Gyptian, Anthony B, Etana, Busy Signal, I-Octane, Gramps Morgan, Cas Haley, Duane Stephenson, Clear Conscience & The Supervillains.  Currently the band is in the process of recording a next album to be released in 2013 which will take them through the USA & Europe, doing what they love best – jamming.  Iration means Creation in the Patois dialect which is spoken in most of the Caribbean islands where English  is the primary language.
